Caribbean Stud Glossary

Ante - the bet each player puts in before the hand starts.

Flush - a hand containing five suited cards, regardless of the card's value.

Fold - to give up a hand.

Four of a kind - a hand containing four cards of the same value.

Full house - a hand made up of three cards of the same value and two cards of another same value. For example: JJJ88.

High card: if neither player holds any poker combination such as a pair, the high card will decide who wins. The high card also determines the winner if the players holds the same poker combination. Ace is the highest card in the deck, 2 is the lowest.

Hole cards - the dealer's face down cards.

Layout - the table the game is played on.

One pair - a hand containing two cards of the same value.

Progressive jackpot - an extra pot the players have the option to enter at the start of each hand. Dealt a flush or higher a player will win money back from the progressive jackpot.

Royal flush - AKQJT of the same suit. The best possible poker hand.

Straight - five cards in sequence, regardless of value and suit. For example: 76543.

Straight flush - five suited cards in sequence, regardless of value. For example: H98765.

Three of a kind - a hand containing three cards of the same value.

Two pair - a hand containing two pairs. See one pair.
